AMI TRAIL
A generous contribution from AMI Semiconductor (AMIS) and the Kirkham family,
along with many hours of hard work from AMIS employees, made this 2-mile stretch
possible. It runs along a paved trail between South Second Avenue and Upper Ross Park.
Of significant interest are the basalt lava formations on which the trail sits, and the desert
vegetation that frames this environment. The trail also offers scenic views of the Portneuf
Gap to the south, China Peak to the east, and Gibson Jack to the west. The AMI trail
connects, via a short bike path, to the 0.5 mile Shadyside trail that connects with
a sidewalk to the Red Hill trail and out to the ISU Student Union Building above
Davis Field.
